Dr. O’Donnell spent years in private practice as a primary care physician. Through both her clinical experience and her own personal hormone health journey, she developed a deeper focus on hormone and metabolic care and is now certified in this specialized field.
I stand apart from many options because I am a medical doctor with decades of clinical training and experience. When you go through that depth of training, you develop something beyond textbook knowledge. You build a library of patient experiences, diagnoses, patterns, and physiology that stays with you. Over time, you develop a gestalt — an overall clinical sense — and things “ping” when you’re listening to someone describe what they’re going through.
Medical training is extensive. You simply don’t know what you don’t know if you haven’t trained to that level. That foundation matters when you’re evaluating something as complex and interconnected as hormones and metabolism.
I’ve practiced in traditional, reactive medicine. I’ve seen what it looks like when we focus on dulling symptoms instead of asking why they’re happening. I’ve also seen patients who don’t feel well being told they’re “normal” because their lab values fall within a wide reference range.
“Medical training gives you more than textbook knowledge. You build a library of experiences, patterns, and physiology that stays with you. When I listen to a patient, things ping. That depth allows me to look beyond symptoms and ask what’s actually driving them.”
That’s part of why I pursued formal certification beyond medical school. Historically, hormone education has been limited in conventional training. I chose to go deeper. I wanted to fully understand what I was prescribing and feel confident that I was addressing root causes — not just writing prescriptions.
Now I practice with both perspectives: a strong conventional medical foundation and an additional functional, root-cause lens. That combination allows me to interpret symptoms alongside suboptimal lab ranges and recognize when something needs attention — even if it technically falls inside a “normal” box.
My philosophy centers on treating the whole person. A patient is never just a symptom. Hormonal systems are interconnected, and they’re influenced by lifestyle, stress, environment, nutrition, and emotional health. All of that matters.
In traditional models, care can become quick and transactional — a brief conversation, prescription written, next patient. That is not what we are building here. This is individualized, personalized care. Not just prescribing, but restoring.
Our lab testing is comprehensive and tailored. It’s not simply checking a standard panel that a primary care clinic might routinely order. We take into account who you are, your history, where you are in life, what you’ve tried before, your preferences, and your goals. From there, we build a specialty lab plan tailored to you.
There is structure to this process. Symptoms, evaluate, test, treat. That organization is intentional. I’ve always practiced medicine thoroughly, and I’ve often been told I’m the most thorough doctor someone has worked with. In family medicine, you must know a little about everything. That requires strategy and protocol. Without it, things become overwhelming.
Here, we have a focused, structured approach — with time, depth, and extended touch points built in.
One non-negotiable is appropriate, individualized testing. Listening carefully tells me a great deal, but testing complements that information and helps guide where we go next. It must be specific to the individual — not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Another non-negotiable is partnership. I need patients who are ready to engage in the process. This is not always a quick fix. Lifestyle plays a significant role in hormone health. Change requires participation on both sides.
There has been a great deal of confusion and stigma surrounding hormone replacement therapy over the past two decades. I would not have pursued this training or recommended bioidentical hormone therapy to my own friends and family if I did not feel confident in the evidence supporting its safe and effective use in appropriate candidates.
Safety comes from individualization. I am not a “pellet clinic” where a computer algorithm generates the same protocol for everyone. Hormone therapy — especially more invasive approaches — is not appropriate for every person. Knowing when it is right, when it is not, and how to start low and titrate thoughtfully is critical. That discernment comes from training and experience.
For many patients, the interpretation of older research has unnecessarily limited access to therapy that could not only improve symptoms, but also support long-term health and prevention.
The discovery call is a free 10–15-minute phone conversation. It’s an opportunity for us to learn about each other.
I listen. What are your pain points? What are you dealing with? Where have you been, and where do you want to go? Why now? What is motivating you to seek change?
We discuss any prior experience with hormone therapy and what has or hasn’t worked. I also share my background — my transition from traditional medicine to a more functional, root-cause approach — and explain the structure of the programs we offer.
“This isn’t a prescription-for-a-symptom approach. It’s individualized care. It’s a partnership. We evaluate, we test, we treat — and we continue to refine and optimize over time.”
By the end of that call, you should have a sense of whether this feels like the right fit for you, and whether one of our program tiers aligns with your goals and circumstances.
The tiers reflect different levels of need, readiness, and depth.
The foundational tier is for someone who feels generally health-conscious, tries to eat well and exercise, but simply does not feel like themselves. Mood changes, poor sleep, low motivation, low energy, diminished libido — they want to evaluate and balance hormones, but may not have the bandwidth to dive deeply into every other area right away.
The second tier is for someone who wants to go further. They may feel they are doing many things “right,” but still aren’t well. They want to examine more fully their condition and risk their metabolic markers, nutrient deficiencies, early insulin resistance, environmental exposures, and food sensitivities. This tier includes more extensive testing and functional nutrition coaching to uncover what might be missing.
The third tier is more comprehensive and in-depth. It’s for someone who feels overwhelmed, has metabolic or chronic conditions such as pre-diabetes, diabetes, hypertension, or hyperlipidemia, and needs more support and accountability. It includes more frequent touch points, deeper lifestyle coaching, and, when appropriate, weight management support with medication. The goal is not only symptom relief but prevention and potential reversal of early metabolic damage.
Each tier increases in coaching intensity and follow-up, because not everyone needs the same level of support.
Our three tiers, ranging from 3 to 6 months, function as structured onboarding. We know that hormone therapy and metabolic optimization are not one-time program fixes.
After the initial phase, we transition into membership options. This allows ongoing access, monitoring, adjustments, and optimization. Hormones evolve — especially for women moving through perimenopause and menopause — and life stressors change.
We know what’s typical is a 10-minute drive by meeting with a doctor who hands you a prescription, and it's done. At Revitalize, it’s a partnership. Through membership, we continue to refine, balance, and support long-term health, prevention, and longevity — it’s more than symptom management.
I’ll always disclose when I don’t have the answer, but together we’ll search for solutions.
